The gesture controller Myo — part of yesterday’s Salesforce wearables integration announcement — is ready for showtime. Thalmic Labs showed a final design at the E3 gaming conference and told the Wall Street Journal that developers will get units in July, with pre-orders shipping in September. General availability is expected (hoped-for?) in the holiday season.
The Myo is a wristband — more like a wrist collar than a watch — that can track not just arm movement but hand gestures. The first prototypes looked somehow like something out of a superhero comic book, something like Thor or Wonder Woman would have as part of their costume. The newer version is much lighter and more ventilated. The video makes it look like magic.
Pre-orders are still available for $149.[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWu9TFJjHaM]
