Recon Ski HUD Gets Facebook Integration

We’ve written before about the heads-up ski goggle display insert from Recon Instruments, which is the tech guts of several other goggles including Oakley’s. Now comes word from Recon that the latest software rev will include Facebook integration. If you enable it, the Snow2 HUD module will let skier see their news feeds. The update, along with parallel updates to Recon‘s iOS and Android apps, is available on December 18.

With the new rev, Recon says skiers will be able to see trail maps and status, find nearby friends, view weather conditions, see incoming texts and send canned responses, see and share their speed and altitude (and presumably location), and now status updates. I’m thinking that tweeting or sharing out your opinions of local ski patrols and orthopedic surgeons would require getting hands on your phone — assuming you haven’t run out of battery in the cold or smashed it to bits when you hit a tree.
