Most fitness tracker wrist bands show a (bad) estimate of calories expended, based on how much you move. Healby’s GoBe, an IndieGoGo project, does that, but also claims to track caloric intake and expenditure by monitoring your glucose levels through your skin.
The GoBe’s wristband is admittedly not svelte, but it does a lot: monitor movement, track blood pressure and heart rate, and monitor hydration and glucose levels without requiring a blood stick. (It was designed by the guy who designed the Motorola V90 cell phone, a favorite around here until we ran it over with our car.) It does the usual smartphone sync thing, but requires, it claims, no manual data input from the use.
GoBe has blown through its IndieGoGo goal of $100,000, raising upwards of $400,000 with more than 30 days left in its campaign. Shipping is expected in June. Retail price is $299; funder price is $189.
