Mondiane Smartwatch Available for Pre-Order, Uses MMT Movement

August 4, 2015 By Dan Rosenbaum

Mondaine_Smart_WatchThe first wave of smartwatches using the Swiss MMT movement from Philippe Kahn’s FullPower Technologies are starting to hit the market. Mondiane’s Helvetica 1, based on the well-known “Swiss Rail” watch face, is now available for pre-order.

The Helvetica 1, announced earlier this year at the Baselworld watch show, is an analog watch based on the MMT movement. MMT-based watches have a small subsidiary dial on the face that shows progress toward a fitness goal. In the case of the Helvetica 1, the dial shows activity or sleep tracking as well as the date; more fitness data is available on a companion smartphone app.

Mondiane is making only 1957 of the watches, in honor of the year the Helvetica typeface was introduced. The pre-order price is $850; it’ll be $950 when the watch ships in September.
