Anyone can make a glove that lets you control your phone by touching it. BearTek gloves let you control devices without even doing that.
The globes use a Bluetooth module hidden in the gauntlet of the left glove. You control devices — smartphone, a GoPro camera — by touching your thumb to various control points on the glove. There are three models: for snow sports, for motor sports, and for all-around wear. There are two different control modules: one for GoPro and one for general Bluetooth use. (This appears to imply that you can’t control your camera and your phone at the same time, which would be unfortunate.)
This is a pretty cool idea, and might be especially interesting when paired with a goggle or other HUD, like the Recon Snow2. For now, these work with iOS, with limited Android functionality. The company says they’re working on that.
Prices range from $225 to $275, including the control module. And yes, this reminds us of the Zackees bike gloves, although the function is significantly different.
We’re getting in a pair to test, and we’ll let you know how we like them.
