Update: Want Glass? One-Day Only on April 15

Update: Google says it will sell Glass to the general U.S. public for one day and one day only on April 15. The gates open at 9am Eastern Time and they’ll sell until they run out. Pricing remains insane: $1500, but at least it comes with a shade or a frame that can accommodate prescription lenses.

The Verge says it’s got a slide from Google indicating that for just one day soon — no one knows when — anyone in the U.S. will be able to buy a set of Google Glass. There’s plenty of speculation about why Google would do that, when it’s been so very tight with its $1500 toys. One reasonable guess is that the company wants to clear out inventory before the real consumer-oriented product ships.

But if you feel denied by an inability to get your hands on Glass, keep an eye out. Your very limited chance may be coming.
