Tag Heuer Exec Bolts to Apple

July 7, 2014 By Dan Rosenbaum

If you want to bury news, the morning of July 4 three-day weekend holiday is pretty much perfect, and that’s when the head of watchmaker Tag Heuer dropped word on CBNC that its sales director has headed off to Apple. Patrick Pruniaux, VP of Sales and Retail for the Swiss luxury watchmaker Tag Heuer, has quit and gone to Apple, said Jean-Claude Biver, head of watch brands at LVMH. (LVMH owns something like 60 luxury brands, starting with the eponymous Louis Vitton and Moet Hennessey.)

Gee — we wonder what Apple’s working on that would interest someone in the watch business?

Increasingly credible rumors have had it that the iWatch will be launched in October. Apple’s hiring of execs from the health world and the luxury good world indicate, unsurprisingly, that the product will include extensive health-related sensors but will be at the high end of the wearables market.
