Getting sunburned stinks. Getting sunburned a lot can eventually kill you.
SunFriend is a fun-looking $50 wrist strap that won Intel’s Make It Wearable challenge last month. You put it on, set its sensitivity depending on your skin type, and a set of LEDs lights up to tell you how much sun exposure you’ve gotten and can safely withstand. When all 11 lights flash, it’s time to put on sunscreen or get inside.
We’re pretty sure we’ve seen similar stuff, but SunFriend is cheap, attractive, and looks pretty easy to use. And, an added plus, its health claims are limited and straightforward. It’s available at its site and at Amazon.
