Salesforce Extends Wearables Further Into the Enterprise

September 4, 2014 By Dan Rosenbaum

A couple of months ago, we wrote about how cloud software company Salesforce had started a pilot program to incorporate wearables into the enterprise. The company is back now with a progress report, having signed on a bunch of particularly interesting companies.

Daniel Debow, SVP of Emerging Technologies at Salesforce, told WTI that the Salesforce Wear package now supports the Epson Moverio, the Jawbone UP, Oculus Rift and the Vuzix M100 smart glasses. What’s interesting about these new companies is that they did the development on their own dime; Salesforce had paid to build software for the initial run of partners — a common practice.

App developers include APX Labs, which does interesting work in field service; Facial Network and Proximity Insight, in the hospitality field; and Brivo Labs, which works with Bionym’s Nimi wristband to secure access to laptops and physical spaces.
