Can’t Justify Google Glass? Go Faux.

October 6, 2014 By Dan Rosenbaum

fauxglassGoogle Glass costs $1500 and doesn’t do a hell of a lot, which makes it sort of expensive for a fashion statement. For a mere $20, though, you can Go Faux and bling out — getting all of the look with enough money left over to buy a MacBook Air (and not one of the low-end ones, either).

FauxGlass is the brainchild of Robin Raskin, CEO of Living in Digital Times. Robin and the owner of the site have been colleagues, friends, and fellow travelers more or less since the Earth cooled. Robin has apparently decided that her life would not be complete without the agonies of shipping an actual product. The possessor of a robust sense of humor, she’s settled on tweaking Glassholes.

FauxGlass pretty much looks like a blingier Google Glass. Same general design, more colorful lights. FauxGlass doesn’t actually do much of anything, which is pretty much the point. On the other hand, it only costs $20, including shipping and handling. If you have to consult with one about it, pull out your Pet Rock or Magic 8-Ball and ask them.

You can pre-order at Indiegogo for December delivery. And if she misses the delivery date and you’re left without a Christmas gift, what the hell — it’s an all-the-more-realistic tech experience, isn’t it?
