The Apple Watch App Watch

March 31, 2015 By Dan Rosenbaum

The flood of updates to iPhone apps to make them compatible with the Apple Watch has started. The first wave came late last week, and included the expected suspects: Evernote, Uber, Twitter, Expedia, American Airlines, Starwood, and others. (You can expect that the first wave of reviews will focus on those apps.) And today, Apple opened the gates to all comers, inviting all developers to submit Watch extensions to their iPhone apps.

Remember: Apple doesn’t want you looking at your watch for more than 10 seconds at a time. First of all, that’ll help preserve battery life. Secondly, staring at your watch for more than 10 seconds at a time is creepy. Try it.

The New York Times is talking about what its Watch app will look like; the paper will push one-sentence updates and the occasional photo to your wrist.
