Polar Intros Consumer-Level Heart Rate Monitor

October 20, 2015 By Dan Rosenbaum

Polar A360Polar, best known by runners and endurance athletes for its chest strap heart monitors, has announced a wrist-based tracker aimed at consumers.

The A360’s swappable silicon wristbands will come in five colors and three sizes. The product is waterproof, and acts as a notification device paired with a smartphone as well as tracking the usual complement of heart rate, steps, calories, workouts and sleep.

Polar says a battery charge will last for two weeks including one hour of training a day. The device syncs with the Polar Flow app; Polar Flow for Coach can provide additional training support, and Polar Club lets club instructors see a user’s heart rate during classes.

A limited number of models of the A360 will be available in November for $199 — pricey for a wrist monitor — with more coming after launch.
