Athletes wearing LED-enhanced gear seem to be trending since Team Britain’s shining shoes at the Olympic closing ceremony. Now they are about to light up the wrists of runners in the 5K nighttime.
In the Electric Run 2016 in Dubai on Nov. 4, 10,000 race entrants will receive Pixmob Electrobands as part of their registration packets. Electrobands are like technologically advanced glow sticks; they, well, glow and you can wave them around at concerts. They’ve lit up Taylor Swift concerts, the NBA All-Star weekend, and Cirque du Soliel. They can be programmed to pulsate and change colors in time to music, light shows, and user movements. You don’t have to worry about losing them in the scuffle; like so many examples of wearable technology, they fit on your wrist.
ER 2016 will feature two music areas—Electric Dance Music and Disco—to add to the runners’ tempi. All in all, an event that will be hard to miss.
