Freescale Exec Writes on Wearable Tech

October 17, 2013 By Dan Rosenbaum

For all the glitzy products that people like to gawk at, the real work on wearable tech happens at the chip level. And Freescale. home of the ARM processor, is a key player in that market.

Ian Ferguson, VP of Segment Marketing at Freescale, wrote a very interesting (albeit quite geeky, as you might expect), blog post for Hexus where he outlined the state of the wearables market and the technical challenges it faces.

The whole article is well worth reading, but Ferguson’s list of platform requirements for the next 18 months is especially so:

  • Minimum 5-day battery life
  • Thin, light, and flexible
  • Balance between local device functionality and cloud functionality
  • Cost

Do check it out.
