Bill Gates Patent To Cloud Men’s Minds, Deter Paparazzi

April 18, 2014 By Dan Rosenbaum

We just learned about a patent awarded to Bill Gates a few months ago that appears to be designed to keep you safe from cameras around you.

Patent 8,600,110 describes

A system for detecting and responding to an intruding camera, comprising: an electronic media display device having a screen configured to display content; a sensor; and a processing circuit configured to: obtain information from the sensor; analyze the information to determine a presence of a camera; and edit any displayed content in response to the presence of the camera.

In other words, it’s a screen, a sensor to detect the presence of cameras, and circuitry that will keep the camera from taking a clear picture of the wearer. Take that, Google Glass. It used to be only The Shadow could cloud men’s minds. Now Microsoft can do it, too.

(On a side note, we can only find Gates’s name on 11 US patents since 1976. We’re surprised that it’s so low…)
