A Shocking Wristband for When You’re Slow to Get the Point

October 2, 2014 By Dan Rosenbaum

20140929180709-pavlokThere are lots of  bands that will flash or vibrate when they want you to move. But if that’s not enough, there’s always the Pavlok.

Pavlok, a Kickstarter project that outraised its 30-day goal in about two days, will administer an electric shock “to replace bad habits with the habits of excellence,” said founder Maneesh Sethi in the promotional video. They plan to integrated with the task manager IFTTT, so if Pavlok catches you, for instance, eating at McDonalds or drunk-texting an old girlfriend… ZAP!

“I know electric shock sounds crazy,” Sethi says, “but sometimes, crazy works.”

If you think crazy might work, $129 will get you early-bird pricing. Shipping is expected in April 2015. No word about what happens to the founders if they miss that date, but an appropriate penalty is pretty obvious.
