The Basis Peak heart-rate monitor from Intel is one of the nicer bits of athletic wristware, but was a little hobbled by its inability to communicate with popular ecosystems. The company announced today that they’ve filled that gap, streaming data to iOS apps for Strava, MapMyRun, and Endomondo. (There’s no Android capability, due to a protocol incompatibility, the company said. They’re working on it.)
The Peak also is now available through Amazon, BestBuy and REI in the US; availability will come next month in the UK and Canada.
Also coming in December is a software update that allow the Peak to display notifications from your smartphone, and a new set of five colorful wristbands.
The Peak sells for $200; the wristbands are $30 each.
