Pristine builds telepresence enterprise and healthcare applications around wearable technology. Like many companies, it built its first round of products around Google Glass — understandable as Google was the best-publicized visual wearable, but an unfortunate choice as Glass has retrenched.
There are other (and better) visor solutions, though. With Glass off the market for at least the time being, Pristine has turned to Vuzix — the recent recipient of a substantial Intel investment — as a visor partner for its Eyesight platform.
Several companies connect visors to databases that can provide useful information to remote hands-free workers. Eyesight is about secure telepresence: being able to share (and record) what someone is seeing and experiencing on any device and provide immediate feedback. The neat tricks are scalability — the ability to show the video stream on multiple devices — and security. Think about a surgeon performing an operation with a world-class teacher looking through her eyes, and you get the general idea.
