Jawbone Publishes Sleep Data; Confirms That WTI Needs More

October 9, 2014 By Dan Rosenbaum

A couple of months ago, Jawbone took the sleep data it collects from its UP users and concluded that people are woken up by big earthquakes. Now, they’ve looked at their computers to see who goes to sleep when all over the U.S. It’s a great post, full of interactive maps.

Turns out that Brooklyn, home of Wearable Tech Insider, goes to sleep later than any other county in the United States: 12:07am. On the other hand, residents of Maui are tucked in by 10:31pm. So for them, Jon Stewart doesn’t exist except on YouTube or DVRs.

One interesting finding is that along the borders of time zones, people go to bed more or less when their bodies tell them to, not when the clock tells them to. On the Central Time side of the border, for instance, people will turn in at 10pm while on the Eastern Time side, they’re turning in at 11pm. It’s really the same time, but the clocks read different.

Excuse us, please. We need a nap.
